Mia was born and raised in the town of Steneby, Sweden. A small, rural community with forests, lakes, ancient rock formations, wildflower meadows, and lots of trees. Her upbringing in such a rich, earthy environment clearly inspires her highly layered and textured work.

Working across a variety of mixed media, including acrylic and oil paints, charcoal, and wood stains, she enjoys incorporating materials that add rich textures, elements like beach sand and coffee grounds. 

After being bicoastal for several years, Mia’s love for the North East took her back to New York where she met my husband. They now have two children and live in Connecticut.
